Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) has extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of Uttarakhand on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of the State Foundation Day. He said that the 25-year journey of Uttarakhand is a festival of pride — a journey marked by determination, hard work, and success. The Governor paid homage to all the immortal martyrs, agitators, and public leaders whose sacrifices and struggles turned the dream of Uttarakhand into reality.

The Governor said that the youth of Uttarakhand, full of potential and strength, have led the state to new heights of development since its formation. Whether it is economic expansion, development of basic infrastructure, or implementation of welfare schemes — Uttarakhand has consistently set an inspiring example of public participation and good governance over the past 25 years.

He stated that in recent years, Uttarakhand has taken several historic decisions. The state became the first in India to implement the Uniform Civil Code. Progressive measures such as the Land Law, Anti-Copying Law, Anti-Conversion Law, and Anti-Riot Law have further strengthened the governance framework.

The Governor highlighted that through events like the G-20 meetings, Global Investors Summit, World Disaster Management Conference, World Ayurveda Congress, and National Games, Uttarakhand has strengthened its national and international identity. These achievements have showcased the state’s cultural, economic, educational, and sporting capabilities while reinforcing its contribution toward the vision of a Developed India by 2047.

He emphasized that while progressing on the path of modern development, we must remain connected to our cultural and traditional roots. “Development with Heritage” should be the new mantra for a progressive Uttarakhand. He urged everyone to take a pledge to buy and use only Made in India products, which embody the hard work of Indian hands — as the philosophy of Swadeshi will serve as the foundation for a self-reliant Uttarakhand and a self-reliant India.

The Governor said that initiatives such as the Winter Tourism Circuit, Homestay Scheme, Vibrant Village Project, Self-Help Groups, and rural economy programs are energizing development across the state. From homestays to organic farming, horticulture, honey production, cultivation of medicinal plants, and the yoga-wellness sector — Uttarakhand is witnessing vast opportunities emerging for sustainable livelihoods.

He further said that maintaining a peaceful environment and strong law and order is essential for promoting tourism and investment in the state. The Uttarakhand Police, through its discipline and efficiency, has ensured peace and security. Their commendable role in managing the increasing traffic during the tourism season and ensuring the smooth conduct of the Kanwar Yatra deserves special appreciation. As the world steps into the digital age, cybersecurity, women’s safety, and a drug-free Uttarakhand must remain our top priorities.

The Governor said that the women of Uttarakhand have been the foundation of the state’s creation and progress. Today, they stand as symbols of self-reliance, innovation, and leadership. Women Self-Help Groups are scripting new success stories, while government schemes are empowering them with economic independence, social dignity, and recognition. The dedication and achievements of Uttarakhand’s women and daughters are a matter of immense pride and inspiration for all.

He added that the youth are the greatest strength of Uttarakhand. They possess energy, innovation, and unwavering love for the nation. The Governor urged the youth to seize every opportunity and turn it into an achievement, as their dreams will determine the future course of Uttarakhand. In an era driven by AI, semiconductors, and cyber technologies, the youth must embrace new innovations and lead the state on the path of digital transformation.

He remarked that Uttarakhand is a land where culture and modernity blend beautifully — rooted in the Himalayas and influencing the world. Through skill development and innovation, the state can reach new heights. “We must aim to make Uttarakhand a state where every child, even in the remotest village, understands the language of science, technology, and research — while staying connected to their culture and values,” the Governor said.

Concluding his message, the Governor called upon everyone to take a collective pledge — that in the next 25 years, Uttarakhand will become the finest state in the country, where our dreams will transform into resolve, and our resolve into achievement.
