Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (Retd.) visited Champawat district on Wednesday as part of his one-day tour. On the sacred occasion of the Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Guru of the Sikhs, the Governor paid obeisance at the historic Gurudwara Sri Reetha Sahib, offered prayers in the Darbar Sahib, and prayed for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the people of the state and the nation.

After offering prayers and participating in the Ardas, the Governor expressed that it was a moment of great honour and spiritual inspiration for him to visit the holy land of Reetha Sahib on this auspicious occasion. He remarked, “The divine presence of Guru Nanak Dev Ji sanctifies this sacred soil. One feels a deep sense of inner peace and spiritual bliss upon coming here.”

The Governor said that this sacred shrine serves not only as a spiritual centre for the Sikh community but also as a beacon of inspiration for all humanity.

He added that the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, emphasizing humanity, equality, and selfless service, continue to illuminate the path of society even today. Quoting the Guru’s timeless principle of “Naam Japo, Kirat Karo, and Vand Chhako” (Meditate on God’s name, earn through honest means, and share with others), the Governor said these values form the very foundation of human life, symbolizing truth, integrity, hard work, and mutual cooperation.

The Governor highlighted that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is blessed with several sacred Sikh pilgrimage sites, among which Reetha Sahib holds a special place. The teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, he said, are a source of enlightenment and inspiration for all humankind, guiding people towards love, tolerance, harmony, and brotherhood.

Following the prayers and Ardas, the Governor participated in the Langar organized at the Gurudwara premises and partook of the Langar Prasad.

He called upon the people of the state to draw inspiration from the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and contribute to building a compassionate, harmonious, and progressive society.

During the visit, the Governor interacted with the Sangat and conveyed his wishes for social harmony, prosperity, and collective well-being across the state.

Present on the occasion were Baba Shyam Singh (Manager), District Magistrate Manish Kumar, Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati, Chief Development Officer Dr. G.S. Khati, Ajit Pal Singh, Harbinder Singh, Sardar Malkit Singh, Dilbagh Singh Bagga, Mandeep Singh, Ranjit Singh, Mrs. Sonu Bohra (District Panchayat Member), along with other dignitaries, devotees, and a large number of members of the Sangat.
