04-11-2025:Hon’ble Governor’s Address on the Occasion of the Convocation Ceremony of Kumaun University

    Publish Date: November 4, 2025

    Jai Hind!

Hon’ble President of India, Hon’ble Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Vice-Chancellor Professor Diwan Singh Rawat, respected professors, officers, dear students, parents, and all distinguished guests present on this historic occasion!

Today’s event is a moment of great pride and joy for all of us, as we have the privilege of receiving the presence and guidance of the Hon’ble President of India at this convocation ceremony. On behalf of the people of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, I extend a warm welcome and heartfelt greetings to you.

This ceremony is not merely the distribution of degrees, but a celebration of the academic journey in which students have demonstrated hard work, discipline, and perseverance. This is the moment when knowledge transforms into responsibility — when students, equipped with their learning and values, move forward to contribute to the progress of society and the nation.

    Dear Students,

The degree in your hands is not just a document; it is a symbol of your hard work, dedication, and dreams. It is an asset that will stay with you throughout your life. However, this degree will be truly meaningful only when you connect it with service, integrity, and compassion.

The purpose of education is not only the development of intellect but also the building of character. Knowledge becomes truly valuable only when it is guided by morality. At a time when society is changing rapidly, honesty, discipline, and a sense of responsibility among students are more essential than ever.

I urge all of you to stay away from every kind of intoxication. Addiction weakens life, destroys dreams, and brings sorrow to families. True joy is not found in intoxication, but in achieving your goals, in service, and in creativity. An educated youth is one who leads both himself and his community in a positive direction.

Today, we are living in a golden era of technology. Artificial intelligence, data science, digitalization, and cybersecurity have become integral parts of our lives. I would like to tell you — to move forward today, it is essential to embrace technology. Make it a companion of your thoughts, culture, and emotions.

    Dear Students,

Whatever field you choose in life, one sentiment should always remain alive within you — “Nation First.” Our existence is meaningful only when we contribute to the welfare of our country. Wherever we are, whatever we do, the honor and progress of our nation must remain our foremost priority.

Under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is moving towards the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ — a Developed India by 2047. This goal is not just the government’s vision, but the resolve of every citizen, every youth. You are the bearers of this resolve.

    Dear Students,

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in your life. Carry a few lessons with you — never stop learning; every experience in life teaches something new. Respect your parents and teachers — their blessings are the seeds of your success. Value time, for it is your most precious possession. Never compromise with truth and honesty — they will become your true identity. And most importantly, stay connected to your roots — those who understand and cherish their culture rise the highest.

    Dear Students,

You are the identity of this university and the hope of this state. Your bright future is the bright future of Uttarakhand and of India. Let us all take a pledge that by making education a celebration of life, we will take our state and our nation to greater heights.

Finally, on behalf of Uttarakhand, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble President of India. You are an inspiration in the fields of education, culture, and women’s empowerment. Your affection and guidance are a source of inspiration for us all. Your dignified presence has turned this ceremony into a celebration of pride and motivation.
