Addressing the convocation, the President said that education is the foundation of a nation’s development. The objective of education, she emphasized, should not only be the development of intellect and skills but also the strengthening of moral values and character.
The President remarked that education makes individuals self-reliant while teaching them humility and a sense of duty toward society and the nation. She urged the students to dedicate their knowledge and education to serving the underprivileged and contributing to nation-building, adding that such service is the truest form of dharma, bringing lasting happiness and fulfillment.
Highlighting India’s rapidly growing economy, the President noted that the Government of India has initiated several policy measures to ensure continuous progress. These initiatives, she said, are generating numerous opportunities for the youth, and higher educational institutions must inspire students to make the most of them.
The President underscored the need to promote research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in the country. She expressed happiness that Kumaun University is dedicated to excellence in education, research, and innovation. She added that a multidisciplinary approach is vital for the effective application of education and research and expressed confidence that the university would continue to advance in this direction.

The President also highlighted the social responsibility of academic institutions and urged teachers and students to engage with nearby villages, understand local challenges, and work toward finding practical solutions.
She stated that India has set the vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047 and emphasized that the youth of institutions like Kumaun University will play a pivotal role in realizing this vision. She expressed confidence that the students would fulfill this responsibility with dedication and talent.

He advised the students, “Never stop learning—every experience in life teaches something new. Respect your parents and teachers—their blessings contain the seeds of success. Value time, for it is the most precious resource. Never compromise on truth and integrity, and always stay rooted in your culture, for those who know their roots rise the highest.”
