31-10-2025 : Governor extends greetings on the traditional festival ‘Igas-Bagwal’.

Hon’ble Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.) extended his heartiest greetings and best wishes to the people of Uttarakhand on the occasion of the state’s traditional folk festival Igas-Bagwal (Budhi Diwali).

In his message, the Governor said that the folk culture, art, and traditions of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand are our invaluable heritage. This festival symbolizes social unity, family values, and reverence towards nature. He added that such local festivals serve as a powerful medium to connect the younger generation with their roots and cultural identity.

The Governor expressed gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, stating that under his leadership, India’s rich folk traditions and local festivals have received renewed recognition and encouragement. He remarked that the Prime Minister’s continuous efforts to promote the nation’s indigenous culture and traditions have strengthened the sense of pride and emotional connection to our roots.

On this occasion, the Governor urged everyone to actively contribute towards preserving and passing on their local culture and traditions to the next generation.
