A mental health awareness program was organized at Raj Bhawan on Saturday in collaboration with the WonderWell Foundation. Various subject experts participated in a panel discussion, emphasizing that mental health is not merely a medical concern but deeply connected to every aspect of life — including emotional, social, legal, and financial well-being.

Hon’ble Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.) attended the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, the Governor said that mental health is one of the most essential needs of the present time. He stated that maintaining mental peace amidst modern-day stress, lifestyle changes, and competition has become a great challenge. “If the mind is unstable, the body cannot remain healthy,” he said, emphasizing that self-reflection and inner dialogue are key to realizing one’s inner strength.

The Governor urged everyone to find joy in small moments of life, saying, “True happiness lies not in great achievements, but in cherishing the little moments.” He added that living in the present moment is the foundation of mental balance and peace. Highlighting the importance of the ‘Art of Living,’ he said it is not merely about meditation or yoga, but a way of life that teaches us to stay positive, empathetic, and peaceful in all circumstances.

Appreciating the initiative of the WonderWell Foundation, the Governor said that such programs play a vital role in promoting awareness, sensitivity, and open dialogue around mental health in society.

Dr. Yashna Bahri Singh, psychiatrist and founder of the WonderWell Foundation, spoke about various aspects of mental health. Senior journalist Mr. Satish Sharma, Dr. Vipul Kandwal, Mr. T. S. Bindra, Mr. Virendra Kalra, and Mr. Durga Verma also participated in the panel discussion.

The event was attended by Legal Advisor to the Governor Mr. Kaushal Kishore Shukla, Mr. Inderjeet Singh Namdhari, Ms. Surjit Kaur, Mr. Varun Vasan, Mr. Ravi Bahri, as well as doctors, academicians, NGO representatives, students, and officials and staff members of Raj Bhawan.
