Rajbhawan, Dehradun, 19 August, 2025
The Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (Retd.), inaugurated a three-day free dental camp for ex-servicemen and their dependents at the Military Dental Centre, Dehradun, on Tuesday. The camp, being organized under the aegis of the Headquarters Uttarakhand Sub Area, will run from 19 to 21 August.
The primary objective of the camp is to raise awareness about oral health among ex-servicemen and their families, while also providing essential dental care services. The initiative has been jointly organized by the Uttarakhand Sub Area and Military Dental Centre with active support from Station Units, ECHS Polyclinics in Dehradun and Clement Town, along with dental officers and para-dental staff.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Governor said that the camp is a commendable initiative to ensure the well-being of our brave veterans and their families. He emphasized that providing accessible and quality healthcare services to ex-servicemen and their dependents is a collective responsibility.
Highlighting the importance of oral health, the Governor remarked that dental care is often overlooked as a minor issue, whereas in reality, “oral health is the key to overall health.” He noted that the mouth is the gateway to the body, and if neglected, it can lead to multiple health complications. He urged ex-servicemen to avail maximum benefit from the camp.
On the occasion, GOC Sub Area, Major General M.P.S. Gill, stated that the camp symbolizes gratitude and service towards ex-servicemen and their families, further strengthening the bond of commitment. Dr. Himanshu Airan also shared valuable insights on various aspects of dental health.
