    04-09-2024 : The Governor congratulated the University on the signing of MoU between GBPUAT, Pantnagar and the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia in the field of beekeeping and honey production.

    Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (retired) congratulated the University on the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar and the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia for technical cooperation and knowledge enhancement of farmers in the field of beekeeping and honey production. The Governor said that beekeeping and honey production can become an important source of income for the farmers of Uttarakhand, and such international cooperation will give a new direction to the agriculture sector of the state. He said that this MoU is an important step towards making the University a leading institute at the global level in the field of beekeeping.

    As per this agreement, it is proposed to establish a Centre of Excellence in Pantnagar University, as well as to do joint research work on beekeeping, to organize joint seminars and workshops for mutual exchange for training and research work of scientists, students and other personnel. These efforts will not only benefit the agriculture based industries, but the farmers and entrepreneurs of the state will also get modern technical information and facilities. This agreement will further strengthen research and technical exchange between the two institutions, due to which the beekeeping industry in Uttarakhand will reach new heights.

    It is noteworthy that earlier the Governor had directed Pantnagar University to increase technical cooperation at the international level in the field of beekeeping. Working rapidly in this direction, the university, in order to conclude this agreement with the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, a 2-member team of Research Director Dr. Ajit Singh Nain and Head of the Department of Entomology Dr. Pramod Mal from the university level visited Slovenia from 26 to 29 August 2024 and discussed with the scientists there about various possibilities in the field of beekeeping, as well as signed an MoU with the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia.
