Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) on Wednesday addressed the program organized by Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha at Shukratal, Muzaffarnagar, Kargil Martyrs Memorial on the occasion of Shaheed Divas through video conferencing from Raj Bhawan. The Governor said that this Kargil Martyrs Memorial reminds us that innumerable heroes have made sacrifices for the defense of the nation. Our country has been facing challenges for centuries. To protect the nation, brave soldiers and our great men have made sacrifices. How can we forget the valor and martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s whole life teaches wisdom, valor, struggle and sacrifice.

The Governor said that today’s young generation should learn from the heroes like Swami Vivekananda, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev, Rajguru, Chandrashekhar. Today we are free, but to protect our freedom, we have to be alert always.

The Governor said that issues like civil rights, duties, military strategy, disaster management, pollution, environment and climate are also important for us and for the generations to come.
