National Secretary of National Federation of Working Journalists Shri Santosh Chaturvedi and other members of the Federation paid a courtesy call on Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at Raj Bhawan on Saturday. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that media has a very constructive role in the society. Journalists and media are an important link in establishing dialogue between the general public and governments. Media plays an important role in nation building by effectively raising issues related to public interest. The media also makes a significant contribution in taking the welfare schemes of the governments to the people. The journalist community can make an effective contribution in removing various inequalities spread in the society and making the public aware. Along with journalists and correspondents, photographers and cameramen also have a very important role in the media. The photographer is actually a photojournalist. On many occasions, just one effective photo tells the whole news or issue. Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) conveyed his best wishes to all the members of the National Federation of Working Journalists.
