    Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) has paid homage to the martyrs on the Indian Armed Forces Flag Day. The Governor has extended greetings to all the soldiers, ex-servicemen, family members of the soldiers and the people of the state and the country on ‘Indian Armed Forces Flag Day’.

    In his message Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that Indian Armed Forces Flag Day reminds us of the valor of our armed forces. The brave soldiers of the country are always ready to serve the country. We the countrymen are happy and safe because of them.

    The Governor said that brave soldiers are the biggest asset of the country, because of their sacrifice and penance this country is safe and united. We have been celebrating the Indian Armed Forces Flag Day since 1949. In honor of the armed soldiers, navymen and airmen of India, this day is celebrated with the spirit of dedication. This day is a day to dedicate some money for the welfare of the personnel of the Indian Armed Forces.

    Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) has appealed to all the people of the state that on the occasion of ‘Indian Armed Forces Flag Day’, try to contribute to the welfare fund of the Armed Forces according to their reverence and ability. The money collected in this fund is used for the rehabilitation of war martyrs and injured soldiers. The Governor said that even a small amount of money is very important. Your small dedication brings to the fore our commitment to take care of the war wounded soldiers, brave women and families of martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the nation.
