Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) announced to provide financial assistance for the education of Sikh girls living in the orphanage during the Kirtan program at Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Premnagar, Dehradun on the occasion of Guru Parv. Governor said that he wants maximum participation of girls in NDA, CDS, Civil Services. For this, He will encourage the institutions providing free coaching facilities. Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) has expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister on behalf of Uttarakhand and Sikh society for the decision to reopen the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor. Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) on Friday reached Shri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara, Premnagar, Dehradun, on the occasion of Guru Parv participated in the Kirtan program. On this occasion, the Governor appealed to the people present that they can directly contact Raj Bhawan for the solution of their grievances.
Addressing the program, Governor said that the light of the knowledge of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is illuminating the entire humanity even today. Guru Nanak Dev Ji gave the message of humanity, universal brotherhood, unity and service. He tied the whole humanity together. Governor said that every Sikh has the DNA, blood and thoughts of Guru Gobind Singh ji. By following the path shown by him the biggest goal can be achieved. Fearlessness, courage, humanity, service and compassion are inherited by Sikhs. Today, the entire Sikh community has set an example across the world through the work of selfless human service. Sikhs have shown the way to the world that service to humanity is beyond the boundaries of religion, caste, language and region. The whole world saw the work of service and help done by the Sikhs during the Covid period. He said that it is a matter of pride for him to get the responsibility of the Governor of Devbhoomi, Uttarakhand. This is a shared honor of the Nanak Naam Leva Samaj, the Sikh community.
President of Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Premnagar Shri Bhagat Pal Singh, other members and Sikh devotees were present on the occasion.
