    Counter-Drone Technology to Play a Crucial Role in Strengthening Border Security

    A detailed presentation and live demonstration of advanced counter-drone technology was conducted before the Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), on Tuesday. Experts showcased various types of drones and counter-drone systems, explaining their functionality, capabilities, and applications. Representatives from the government, police, armed forces, paramilitary forces, and universities also participated in the session.

    On this occasion, the Governor stated that in view of evolving security challenges and technological demands, the importance of drone and counter-drone technologies is continuously increasing. He emphasized the need for effective utilization of such advanced technologies and urged concerned departments to remain proactive in exploring their potential applications. He noted that in Uttarakhand, these technologies can significantly strengthen security systems while also contributing to disaster management and public welfare.

    Highlighting the current scenario, the Governor pointed out that modern technologies are becoming increasingly essential for border security. With the growing use of drones and the associated risks, counter-drone technology has become indispensable. This technology enables the identification, tracking, and neutralization of suspicious or unauthorized drones, thereby enhancing the security of border areas. It is particularly critical for states with sensitive border regions.

    During the session, it was also highlighted that drone technology can be effectively used in disaster management, surveillance, security operations, and rapid delivery of essential services. In geographically challenging terrains like Uttarakhand, drones can facilitate swift transportation of medicines, essential supplies, and relief materials. Additionally, counter-drone systems can play a vital role in managing large gatherings and ensuring security during major events such as Kumbh and Kanwar Yatra.
