    Governor and Chancellor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) on Wednesday virtually inaugurated the newly constructed “CDS General Bipin Rawat Pharmacy Academic Block” at the Bhimtal Campus of Kumaun University.

    The Governor said that naming the building after India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat, is highly meaningful. He noted that it would inspire students with the values of discipline, dedication, and patriotism. He also urged every student to resolve to use their knowledge for the welfare of the nation and society.

    Appreciating the achievements of the University’s Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Governor expressed confidence that the new academic block would provide fresh impetus to research, skill development, and innovation. He said that the building, constructed under the Government of India’s PM-USHA scheme, would strengthen quality and research-oriented higher education in line with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

    The Governor further stated that Uttarakhand is blessed with a rich natural heritage of medicinal and aromatic plants, offering immense potential for pharmaceutical research. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of the “Decade of Uttarakhand,” he said that a developed Uttarakhand would play a vital role in building a developed India, with universities and the youth making the most significant contribution.

    Additional Secretary to the Governor, Ms. Reena Joshi, and Vice-Chancellor of Kumaun University, Prof. Diwan Singh Rawat, were also present on the occasion.
