27-08-2022:President of Vijay Public School (Visual Disability Hostel) Mrs. Vijay Lakshmi met the Governor.

Since 2007, Mrs Vijay Laxmi, President, Vijay Public School (Visual Disabilities Hostel) has been administrating a hostel, dedicated to the visually impaired and disabled children in Naugaon, Uttarkashi. Facilitating 50 visually impaired students in the hostel, with free education and accommodation. Students in the hostel consists from the economically deprived, poverty ridden and orphan background. His Excellency was apprised that since 2007, all financial grants and aids were provided by the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (NIEPVD), which had been stopped in the year 2021. A formal request was made to the hon’ble Governor to revive the grant/aid in order to support the noble cause.

His Excellency appreciated the efforts being made by Mrs Vijay Laxmi in the interest of the society, hon’ble Governor remarked that the institution is doing a meritorious and noble work. He said that the efforts by Mrs. Vijay Lakshmi to bring the neglected and our specially abled society into the mainstream by educating the poor and helpless children with such selfless work is highly commendable. The Hon’ble Governor said that all possible help shall be provided in regard to review the grant by NIEPVD, he added formal talks about this issue with the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India will be also be held. Along with this, assistance will also be given for grant by directing the Director of National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (NIEPVD), Dehradun.
