    27-07-2021:Governor laid down the foundation stone of the multipurpose warehouse of Uttarakhand Red Cross Society at Red Cross Society Sahastrdhara Road.

    Governor Smt. Baby Rani Maurya laid down the foundation stone of the multipurpose warehouse of Uttarakhand Red Cross Society at Red Cross Society Sahastrdhara Road on Tuesday. On the occasion Governor Smt. Maurya also launched the online portal for Red Cross membership.

    While congratulating the Red Cross team, the Governor said that a warehouse was required to store the relief material in Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand is a disaster prone state. Volunteers of the Red Cross always provide necessary help and relief material in the disaster affected areas in the State when required. We need to arrange a safe storage system for relief material so that relief material may be available to people when needed. Appreciating the efforts of volunteers the Red Cross Governor said that volunteers of the Red Cross provided immediate help during the recent disasters in Chamoli and Uttarakashi.

    Governor Smt. Maurya said that the Red Cross was set up to serve the needy and helpless people. We all need to work for humanitarian service with dedication. Governor said that volunteers of the Red Cross worked effectively during the COVID pandemic in providing help to the needy. Governor appealed that students should be motivated to join the Red Cross at most. Students of universities and colleges should be given online training for First Aid, Road Safety and disaster management by the Red Cross and Disaster Management Department collectively. List of students should be prepared at colleges and universities who want to donate blood.

    Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat assured every possible assistance for the programs of Red Cross.

    Governor Smt. Maurya also facilitated the Manish Kasniyal, a volunteer of Red Cross who flagged the Red Cross flag at mount Everest.

    Chairman of the managing committee of Red Cross Uttarakhand Shri Kundan Singh Toliya, Vice Chairman Dr. Naresh Chaudhary, General Secretary Dr. M S Ansari and other dignitaries were also present.
