Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.) has extended his heartiest greetings and best wishes to all the people of the State on the occasion of Constitution Day. He said that the historic moment of 26 November 1949, when the people of India adopted and gave unto themselves the Constitution, stands as a cornerstone of our national life.

Paying respectful tribute to Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and all the revered architects of the Constitution, the Governor said that the Constitution of India is not merely a book, but the soul of Indian democracy and the source of all constitutional powers. Dr. Ambedkar’s vision, extraordinary intellect, and tireless efforts laid the foundation of a welfare-oriented, inclusive, and just Constitution for the nation.

The Governor said that Constitution Day is a sacred occasion for all citizens to reaffirm their commitment to the ideals, principles, and duties enshrined in the Constitution. Many great minds of the nation came together during the making of the Constitution of independent India and created a guiding document which continues to illuminate the path of our nation like a beacon of light. Inspired by this guidance, India is steadily marching toward a bright and prosperous future.

The Governor said that on this occasion, every citizen must pledge to uphold the faith placed in us by the framers of the Constitution. It is essential for each individual to understand and practice the fundamental duties, place national interest above all, and keep alive the ideals of the Constitution through responsible conduct. This, he said, would be the truest tribute to our founding visionaries.
