    26-08-2021 : Governor interacted with media representatives on the occasion of completion of three years of her tenure.

    Governor of Uttarakhand Smt. Baby Rani Maurya interacted with media representatives at Raj Bhawan on Thursday on the occasion of completion of three years of her tenure. While talking to the media Governor Smt. Maurya said that effective efforts were being made to make Uttarakhand a progressive state during her tenure. Women of the State are hardworking and courageous. Every possible help would be provided by Raj Bhawan to these women. Governor said that directions had been given to make available detailed working plans, training and easy loans to these self help groups so that women might be empowered economically in the State.

    Governor added that awareness programs were organized in the Raj Bhawan about Tuberculosis disease. Nutritious food packets were distributed among the TB patients. Raj Bhawan adopted five patients of tuberculosis disease. Expenditure of treatment of these children was borne by Raj Bhawan.

    As per the directions of Raj Bhawan universities of the State adopted many remote villages and ensured developmental work there. Clear directions have been given to the vice chancellors of the universities to implement new education policy.

    Governor Smt. Maurya said that relief material and oxygen concentrators were sent to the various districts during the COVID-19 pandemic. She informed that a village in every district was adopted to develop as a model village. Various developmental works were done in Jhajhra and Gahna village in Dehradun and Kumaun respectively. Various medicinal herbs are found in Uttarakhand abundantly. Productions and distribution of these herbs are being promoted through self help groups.

    Governor said that home stay scheme should be promoted in the State to stop the migration. Raj Bhawan has organized many anti drug awareness programs. Governor said that a Sari Bank was set up to distribute saris among poor women. School bags and books were distributed among the needy children on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar. Masks, sanitizers were also distributed in these colonies during the COVID-19.

    Governor Smt. Maurya also informed about the works of Red Cross society in the State and appreciated its efforts. Raj Bhawan has started awards for the best women employees. Governor also gave direction to reserve one seat in every stream in universities for the students who lost their parents due to COVID-19. She said that actions would be taken against the private drugs de-addiction centres that have not done registration.

    Secretary to Governor Shri Brijesh Kumar Sant, Additional Secretary Shri Jitendra Kumar Sonkar and media representatives were present on the occasion.
