Governor Flags Off Flower-Decorated Promotional Vehicles for Vasantotsav–2026

All preparations have been completed for the three-day Vasantotsav–2026 (Flower Exhibition) to be held at Lok Bhavan, Dehradun, from February 27 to March 1, 2026. The much-awaited festival will be inaugurated by Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) on February 27 at 10:00 a.m.

The Flower Exhibition will remain open to the general public free of cost from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on February 27, and from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on February 28 and March 1, 2026.

To ensure extensive outreach, the Governor today flagged off specially decorated promotional vehicles adorned with flowers. These vehicles will travel across Dehradun city and nearby areas to create awareness about the festival. One vehicle will cover the route from Dehradun to Selaqui, while another will travel from Dehradun to Doiwala.

Under the Governor’s guidance, innovative features have been introduced this year. Uttarakhand Technical University will undertake visitor counting through an AI-based application. AI-enabled cameras have been installed at the main entrance of Lok Bhavan for this purpose. In addition, visitors may register online through the official portal to receive a digital identity card. The registration process will remain entirely optional.

The Governor has appealed to the people of the State to participate in large numbers and enjoy the flower exhibition, various competitions and cultural programmes. On the occasion, Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Additional Secretary Smt. Reena Joshi, Director of Horticulture S.L. Semwal, Joint Director of Horticulture Dr. Ratan Kumar, Horticulture Officer Deepak Purohit, and other officials and staff members were present.
