    25-12-2022:Governor honours the District Magistrates with the Outstanding District Magistrate Award-2022.

    On the occasion of Good Governance Day, Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) honoured five District Magistrates (DM) with the Outstanding District Magistrate Award-2022. Haridwar District Magistrate Vinay Shankar Pandey, Nainital District Magistrate Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, Pauri District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan, Rudraprayag District Magistrate Mayur Dixit and Chamoli District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana were the recipients. The role of a DM plays an important part in good governance and helps in the implementation of government schemes. To be able to tackle problems of their district with integrity and to ensure an inclusive and all-round development of their area is what separates them and makes them leaders.

    Former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, was one of India’s greatest Leaders; an extraordinary personality, and an icon of good governance. The Governor spoke of a need for a direct connect between the administration and the public, so that there is no ambiguity in solving their problems. He said that he was aware of the challenges present but with the collective efforts of the DM’s and their team, we are definitely going to be able to achieve the goal of Vishwaguru. He also urged the administration to inculcate the use of more technology for the upcoming year.

    On this occasion, Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha addressed the audience and said that under the aegis of the inspiration and initiative of the Governor, District Magistrates are being honoured for the successful implementation of public welfare schemes, innovative experiments and excellent work in their districts. Realising the lack of rewards for their tireless efforts, Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) initiated this recognition; to congratulate the winning officers and to further encourage the others to achieve as well.

    Secretary General Administration Mr. Vinod Kumar Suman spoke of the transparency in the process. He said that applications were received from the districts for the Best District Magistrate Award-2022, following which, a presentation was given by the District Magistrates before a High Level Committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. Post this screening, the selected names were recommended for the Governor and Chief Minister’s approval.

    Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) also released the Raj Bhawan half-yearly magazine ‘Devbhoomi Samvad’ which is a compilation of his various speeches. It has been edited by Deputy Director Information Dr. Nitin Upadhyay and co-edited by Sanju Prasad Dhyani. Secretary Mr. SN Pandey, Secretary Mr. Deepak Gairola, Additional Secretary Lalit Mohan Rayal, Deputy Director, Information Dr. Nitin Upadhyay and other officers and employees were present for the award ceremony.
