    25-11-2021 : Governor has extended greetings to all the people of the state on Constitution Day.

    Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) has extended greetings to all the people of the state on Constitution Day. He said that on November 26, 1949, the people of India had adopted the Constitution of India.

    Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that “I bow to all the architects of the Constitution including Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. Constitution is the soul of Indian democracy and also the source of all its powers.

    The Governor said that the strong structure of Indian constitution was made possible by the extraordinary talent, hard work and great ideas of Dr. Ambedkar.

    The Governor said that Constitution Day is a day for all of us to remember the true ideals, strong principles and sense of sacred duties enshrined in the Constitution of India. In the historical work of making the constitution of independent India, many great sages and great women of the country have prepared such a wonderful document which is a lighthouse for us as a nation. In its light, our nation and citizens are shaping India’s golden future.

    The Governor said that just as the Ganges flowing from the Gomukh peaks of the Himalayas incorporates many streams in its unbroken flow, similarly the Constitution of India, while keeping its original form intact, with newly conscious, assimilating new colors with the passage of time. In this form our constitution is eternal. Seeing its flowing form, the sages who made the constitution called it an immortal document.

    The Governor said that on this occasion of Constitution Day, we have to be fully conscious of the duties given in the Constitution to uphold the trust expressed by the framers of our Constitution. Every citizen has to realize and perform the duties enshrined in the Constitution. To keep this spirit of the framers of the constitution intact, the values of the constitution and the fundamental duties enshrined in it have to be fully implemented in life.
