    25-07-2023 : Governor visited Jhajhra village of Sahaspur block and inspected the ongoing schemes.

    Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) visited Jhajhra village of Sahaspur block on Tuesday and inspected the ongoing schemes. During this, the Governor also inspected the Anganwadi center, health sub-centre, school and various departmental schemes located in Jhajhra village. Gram Panchayat Jhajhra is a village adopted by the Governor.

    Inspection of Upper Primary School, Jhajhra

    During his visit, the Governor reached Upper Primary School, Jhajhra. Here he interacted with the children. During this, the governor taught the children by becoming a teacher. He encouraged the children and inspired them to aim high in life. He told the children that children should always dream big and fulfill it by taking a resolution. He asked the children to always work hard. During this, the Governor asked the children about their curiosities and their goals and wished them a bright future.

    Inspection of Anganwadi Center and Health Sub-Center, Jhajhra

    The Governor reached Anganwadi center Jhajhra and met small children. He took information about the center from the Anganwadi Supervisor. During the inspection of the health sub-centre, he took detailed information about the center and other arrangements and facilities including vaccination of children there. The Governor said that Asha and Anganwadi workers are working with great devotion and hard work and he is always very impressed by their work. During this, it was informed that they get very less honorarium, on which the Governor assured of appropriate action.

    Meeting with women self help group and inspection of their stalls

    During his visit, the Governor inspected the stalls of women self-help groups set up at “Anand Van” in Jhajhra. He inquired about various products made by women and appreciated the products made. The Governor inquired about the products made by each group in the stalls set up by the women self-help groups of Balaji cluster. He said that the products made by women are truly world class. Branding and good packaging of these products of self-help groups is necessary. Departmental officers were directed for this. He asked the women to focus on online marketing of the products. The Governor said that the women of Uttarakhand are very strong and capable in themselves. He said that an economic revolution will definitely come in Uttarakhand on the basis of self-help groups.

    Heard problems by installing chaupal in Gram Panchayat Jhajhra

    During his tour, the Governor held a meeting with the people in Gram Panchayat Jhajhra, listened to their problems and assured them of all possible redressal. He said that Jhajhra Gram Panchayat is a village adopted by him. If there is any problem or suggestion of this village, then the village head can also come to Raj Bhawan and tell his problem. He said that the development at the village level is very important, for this people’s representatives and villagers need to be aware.

    During this, the Governor was apprised of the problem of water-logging in the rainy season by the villagers, on which he instructed the Chief Development Officer to prepare a plan to solve the said problem. On the other hand, on the problem of destruction of villagers’ agriculture by monkeys and stray animals, the Governor instructed the officials to prepare a concrete action plan. Apart from this, the villagers also placed the demand of high school and inter college in Jhajhra before the Governor. He assured appropriate action for the above suggestions.

    Inspection of schemes and flood protection works of Jal Jeevan Mission in Jhajhra

    The Governor also inspected the Jhajhra drinking water scheme during his visit. He obtained detailed information from the officials about the scheme being prepared by the Uttarakhand Drinking Water Corporation, Dehradun under the Jal Jeevan Mission programme. In which it was told that this scheme is being constructed with 273.91 lakhs. 648 families will be benefited from this scheme of 350 kilo liter capacity. The Governor instructed the officers to construct this drinking water scheme at the earliest.

    During this, the Governor inspected the flood protection work located on the banks of river Tons in Jhajhra. While inspecting the 1100 meters long flood protection work made by the Irrigation Department, he appreciated the protective works. He said that the retaining wall would help in preventing water erosion and the climate tower located adjacent to it, housing society NDRF. There will be security for the camp and the buildings of the National Disaster Response Force. On this occasion, he also planted saplings on the banks of Tons river.

    During the tour, the Governor met the people living in houses built for landless families under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana at Jhajhra. He also took information from the people about their problems. He also inspected the motor road built under Mera Gaon, Meri Sadak scheme. Various departmental officers including the Chief Development Officer, Dehradun Jharna Kamthan were present during the visit.
