24-02-2022:Governor took a meeting of the prison reform committee in Raj Bhawan.

Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) took a meeting of the prison reform committee in Raj Bhawan. During the meeting, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) had detailed discussion on the jail reforms in the state. The Governor instructed that efforts should be made to improve the internal environment, management and administration of the state’s prisons. He also directed the effective improvement in speedy trial and panel system. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that the atmosphere should be improved in jails. Issues related to security and human rights of prisoners should be considered sensitively. He said that necessary skills training and education should be arranged for prisoners in prison so that after release, they can become self-reliant.
