On Saturday, 50 kg of honey was extracted from the bee boxes installed in the Raj Bhawan premises. Earlier, in the last 45 days, a total of 101 kg honey has been extracted from these bee boxes kept in Raj Bhawan. Mellifera species of bees have been kept in the Raj Bhawan premises.

The Governor said that while the process of pollination takes place in grains, fruits and vegetables from bees, it produces high value products which include Bee Wax, Bee Venom, Royal Jelly, Comb Honey etc. Silent farming can become a medium of prosperous economy in the hill state of Uttarakhand with less agricultural land and small holdings. He expected the officers of the department to encourage the common man, especially the youth, to observe silence. He said that bee boxes have also been installed in the world famous Valley of Flowers.

National Bee Board member Ajay Saini, Horticulture Officer Deepak Purohit were present on the occasion.
