21-10-2025 Governor offered prayers at Shri Kedarnath Dham.
Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.) offered prayers at Shri Kedarnath Dham on Tuesday and performed a special Rudrabhishek Puja, seeking blessings for global peace, the welfare of humanity, and the sustainable development of Uttarakhand.
The Governor inspected the ongoing reconstruction and development works at the Kedarnath temple premises. Executive Engineer D.D.M. Vinay Jhinkwan briefed the Governor on the progress of the reconstruction activities, informing him that most of the works have been completed and the remaining are in their final stages.
During his visit, the Governor met members of the Teerth Purohit community at the temple premises, who welcomed him with traditional chants and rituals. Calling it a deeply spiritual and emotional experience, the Governor said, “Every particle of Kedarnath Valley resonates with the essence of Lord Shiva. The mountains here embody His divine presence, and one feels naturally drawn into meditation upon setting foot on this sacred land.”
The Governor noted that significant progress has been achieved in pilgrimage management and reconstruction over the past three years. Appreciating the district administration, temple committee, police department, SDRF, NDRF, and all supporting agencies, he said, “Your collective efforts in ensuring a successful, safe, and pilgrim-friendly Char Dham Yatra are truly commendable.”
He was also informed that the construction of residential facilities for Teerth Purohits is nearly complete and that issues related to land and building allocation have been resolved. The Governor lauded the coordinated efforts of the temple committee and district administration for this achievement.
The Governor interacted with officers, security personnel, and staff on duty at Kedarnath, encouraging them for their dedicated service. He said, “Administration, police, and service personnel are playing a vital role in ensuring a smooth pilgrimage experience for all devotees. Every official and staff member must work with complete sincerity and a spirit of service to ensure that no pilgrim faces any inconvenience.”
Among those present were Additional District Magistrate Shyam Singh Rana, Chief Development Officer Rajendra Singh Rawat, Chief Executive Officer of the Temple Committee Vijay Thapliyal, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ukhimath Anil Shukla, Committee President Pt. Rajkumar Tiwari, General Secretary Rajendra Tiwari, Minister Ankit Prasad Semwal, and other officials, staff, and Teerth Purohits.
