Hon’ble Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) interacted with volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at Lok Bhawan today. These volunteers had represented the state at the Republic Day Parade held on January 26, 2026, at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. Volunteers who were honoured by the Hon’ble President of India were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the volunteers, the Governor said that being associated with NSS at the national level with a spirit of service is both a matter of pride and responsibility for youth. He stated that representing Uttarakhand at a globally viewed platform such as the Republic Day Parade is a highly prestigious achievement.

The Governor also appreciated the volunteers who received recognition from the President, stating that such honours are awarded to only a select few among millions of youth. He described it not only as an individual achievement but also a proud moment for the state of Uttarakhand.

Motivating the youth, the Governor urged them to act as “brand ambassadors” in society. He emphasized that volunteers should carry forward the core values of NSS—service, dedication, and social responsibility—and contribute actively to nation-building. He called upon the youth to remain committed to their goals and become catalysts of positive change in society.

On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Amit Sinha, Regional Director of NSS Shri Samardeep Saxena, State NSS Officer Smt. Sunaina Rawat, and others were present.
