Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram Foundation Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm at Lok Bhavan

Lok Bhavan Dehradun 20 February, 2026

Foundation Day of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram was celebrated with grandeur at Lok Bhavan today. Organised in the spirit of Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat, the programme was attended by Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), who extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of both States and appreciated the rich cultural heritage and spirit of patriotism of the North-East.

The Governor stated that geographical distances do not divide the nation; rather, diversity enriches it. Referring to the deep-rooted patriotism of Arunachal Pradesh, he noted with pride the tradition of greeting with “Jai Hind.” He also recalled the sacred links of Tawang and Parashuram Kund. Appreciating Mizoram’s high literacy rate, civic sense and the vibrant Cheraw dance, he described the State as one that celebrates life even amidst challenging circumstances.

Emphasising that Ek Bharat–Shreshtha Bharat is not merely a programme but a national mission of emotional integration, the Governor observed that empowerment of border areas forms the foundation of national security. Calling upon the youth, he said that the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047” can only be realised when the spirit of ‘Nation First’ becomes a guiding principle in life and diversity is embraced as strength rather than division.

On the occasion, messages from the Governors of both States were read out to the gathering. The programme featured captivating folk dance performances by students from Arunachal Pradesh and melodious songs presented by students from Mizoram, portraying a vibrant picture of “Mini India.”

Additional Secretary to the Governor Smt. Reena Joshi, Finance Controller and Programme Anchor Dr. Tripti Srivastava, along with senior officers and staff of Lok Bhavan, were also present.
