Dr. Dhal Singh Bisen, Governor-designate of Uttarakhand, took oath as the Governor of Uttarakhand at Lok Bhavan on Monday. At the swearing-in ceremony held at Lok Bhavan, Chief Justice of the Uttarakhand High Court, Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari, administered the oath of office to Dr. Dhal Singh Bisen.

Following the oath-taking ceremony, Governor Dr. Dhal Singh Bisen inspected the Guard of Honour presented by the Uttarakhand Police. Earlier, Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan read out the warrant of appointment issued by the Hon’ble President of India, appointing Dr. Dhal Singh Bisen as the Governor of Uttarakhand.

Speaking to the media, Governor Dr. Dhal Singh Bisen said, “I bow with reverence to the sacred land of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand and its people. I express my heartfelt gratitude to the country’s top leadership for giving me the opportunity to serve this sacred land.”

The Governor said that Uttarakhand is not merely a state, but a centre of faith and culture. It is home to the sacred Char Dham—Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri. The state is also blessed with spiritually significant and extraordinary places such as Adi Kailash and Jageshwar Dham. Uttarakhand is globally renowned for its unique and breathtaking tourism destinations.

He said that alongside being a Devbhoomi, Uttarakhand is also a Veer Bhoomi. Almost every family in the state has a member who has served or continues to serve in the armed forces in the service of the nation. The women of Uttarakhand are exceptionally empowered and inspiring, while the youth, farmers and society at large are hardworking and resilient. This collective strength, he said, is one of the reasons why Uttarakhand is rapidly progressing across various sectors of development.

The Governor said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had stated from the sacred precincts of Baba Kedarnath that “the third decade of the 21st century will be the decade of Uttarakhand.” He said that, in line with this vision, efforts must continue to accelerate the pace of development in the state and take Uttarakhand to new heights.

He said that his key priorities as Governor would include upholding constitutional values at all times, maintaining the dignity of the office, and working in collaboration with the State Government and the people to accelerate initiatives in education, healthcare, agriculture, tourism, environment, employment and public welfare. “The peace, security and prosperity of Devbhoomi shall remain our foremost objective,” he said.

The programme was conducted by Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan.
