Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) on Friday offered prayers and performed jalabhishek (ritual water offering) at the historic Knowledge Tree (Peepal tree) located at Kakrighat in Almora district. Thereafter, he visited the Karkateshwar Temple, where he performed traditional worship and prayed for the happiness, prosperity, and welfare of the people of Uttarakhand.

On this occasion, the Governor said that Kakrighat is a place filled with extraordinary energy, peace, and spiritual consciousness. He noted that visiting the site provides a sense of inner peace and inspires people to imbibe the teachings and ideals of Swami Vivekananda. He further stated that every place has its own unique identity and cultural significance, and Kakrighat holds special importance as the historic meditation site of Swami Vivekananda.

The Governor said that he felt privileged to visit and experience the sacred place where Swami Vivekananda practiced meditation. Appreciating the efforts made toward the conservation and revival of the Knowledge Tree, he remarked that it is a matter of pride that the tree under which Swami Vivekananda meditated has been scientifically restored and rejuvenated. He added that it will continue to inspire future generations.

Subsequently, the Governor visited the world-renowned Kainchi Dham in Nainital district and offered prayers at the sacred ashram of Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj. Paying his respects to Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj, he prayed for the happiness, peace, and welfare of the state, the nation, and all humanity.

The Governor said that the life of Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj was dedicated to the ideals of service, compassion, devotion, and the welfare of humanity. His teachings, he said, continue to provide positive guidance to society. He added that Kainchi Dham is not merely a religious site but a vibrant center of spiritual energy, service, and public welfare, where devotees from across India and abroad experience faith and inner peace.

The Governor also toured the ashram premises, appreciated its spiritual and service-oriented activities, and praised the efforts of the ashram management in providing facilities and services to devotees.
