    Governor Smt. Baby Rani Maurya said that Red Cross Society is making significant contribution in the state for prevention and prevention of COVID-19 pandemic. Governor Smt. Maurya appreciated the active contribution of Red Cross volunteers in the distribution of masks and sanitizers, social distancing, crowd control, vaccination campaign, blood donation campaign and public awareness campaign in the districts of the state. Governor Smt. Baby Rani Maurya on Wednesday inquired about the work being done by the Red Cross Society for prevention and prevention of COVID-19 epidemic in the state. Governor Smt. Maurya directed that the number of Red Cross volunteers should be increased maximum in the state. Youth should be encouraged to join Red Cross. Good results can be achieved with better coordination between district administration and district red cross committees.
    Dr NS Ansari, General Secretary, Uttarakhand Red Cross Society informed that more than 600 volunteers are working across the state for prevention and prevention of corona virus infection by the Indian Red Cross branch, Uttarakhand and its district committees. During the COVID-19 epidemic, Red Cross Volunteers are giving continuous active participation in the work of awareness campaign, maintaining social distance, voluntary blood donation, assistance in the help desk including activities conducted by the district administration and distribution of relief. More than 800 units of blood were donated by the volunteers during the lockdown last year and more than 150 units of blood this year. More than 5000 masks were self-made by Red Cross volunteers. Public awareness campaigns were conducted for prevention and control of corona virus infection in more than 1350 places across the state. Awareness campaigns for vaccination were conducted at more than 1100 places. Red Cross cooperated in the sanitization works at more than 100 places in different districts. Where last year, during the lockdown period, more than 30 thousand masks, more than 8 thousand gloves, 5 thousand sanitizers, more than 2 thousand PPE kits and more than 5 thousand ration kits were distributed to the needy by the Red Cross. This year from April 2021, more than 7 thousand masks, more than 3000 gloves, more than 130 ration kits, more than 7000 sanitizers were distributed.
    Red Cross Committee Udham Singh Nagar distributed more than 5000 rapid antigen kits in Udham Singh Nagar district. An amount of Rs 3 lakh was provided to Municipal Corporation Udham Singh Nagar by Red Cross Committee Udham Singh Nagar for the management of corona virus infected dead bodies.
    From 21st May to 21st June 2021 is being organized as Yoga Month by the Red Cross Committee Pithoragarh. Under this online/virtual yoga training programs will be run.
    On this occasion Secretary Shri Governor Shri Brijesh Kumar Sant, Additional Secretary Shri Jitendra Kumar Sonkar were present.
