Director General of Police Shri Deepam Seth called on Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) at Lok Bhavan today as a courtesy visit. He briefed the Governor on the preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra and the proposed security arrangements for the forthcoming Kumbh Mela, including traffic management, crowd control measures, monitoring of sensitive locations and inter-departmental coordination.

The Governor directed that extensive use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and advanced technologies be ensured for a world-class event like the Kumbh, so that crowd management, identification of suspicious activities and real-time monitoring can be carried out effectively. He emphasised the establishment of an advanced and integrated control room in the Kumbh area, synchronised with various security agencies, CCTV networks, drone surveillance and traffic monitoring systems. This, he noted, would facilitate prompt decision-making and ensure swift response during emergencies.

The Governor also stressed that the ongoing intensive verification drive across the State should be conducted in a more focused and result-oriented manner on a continuous basis. In view of the forthcoming Char Dham Yatra, he directed that all necessary arrangements relating to security, traffic regulation, disaster management and crowd control along the pilgrimage routes, halting points and temple premises be completed within stipulated timelines.
