“Connect India’s Sanskrit Knowledge Tradition with Modern Technology and Take It to the Next Generation” — Governor

Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) participated as the Chief Guest at a programme organised at Maharshi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University in Ujjain on Friday. On the occasion, the Governor felicitated eminent scholars for their significant contributions towards the preservation and promotion of the Sanskrit language and Vedic traditions.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that India’s Sanatan knowledge tradition is not merely a legacy of the past but also a source of strength for shaping the future. He emphasised the need to connect India’s rich knowledge heritage with modern technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) and take it to the younger generation. He said that AI and modern technology can play an important role in the digitisation of Sanskrit manuscripts, preservation of ancient texts, safeguarding the correct pronunciation of mantras and shlokas, and making the study and interpretation of complex classical texts more accessible to the younger generation.

The Governor stressed the need to further strengthen educational and cultural cooperation between Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand. He said that efforts would be made to advance the proposed academic and research collaboration between Maharshi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University, Uttarakhand Sanskrit University and the Department of Hindu Studies at Doon University. He said that greater interaction among students and researchers, joint research initiatives and the use of technology to disseminate India’s knowledge traditions could create a meaningful confluence of knowledge between the two regions.

Appreciating initiatives such as “Gyan Bharatam” undertaken by the university, the Governor said that India’s manuscripts preserve the collective memory, knowledge, scientific thought and philosophical traditions of the country. Their survey, collection, preservation and digitisation are a responsibility towards future generations. He also appreciated the university’s efforts through the “Sanskrit Gaurav Granth Lecture Series” to take the wisdom contained in texts such as the Mahabharata, Ramayana, Arthashastra and Natyashastra to the wider public.
