Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, while addressing a programme virtually from Jalandhar, Punjab, inaugurated 75 redeveloped railway stations across the country under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. As part of this nationwide initiative, a ceremony was held at the redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station, attended by Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, and several other dignitaries. Equipped with modern passenger amenities, Harrawala Railway Station is among the 75 stations redeveloped and dedicated to the nation under the scheme.

Harrawala Railway Station has been redeveloped at a cost of approximately ₹19 crore. The station’s architectural theme is inspired by the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the Doon Valley. Its distinctive curved roof symbolizes the Himalayan mountain range, while a dedicated space within the station showcases Uttarakhand’s traditional Aipan art.

The station now offers a range of world-class passenger facilities, including a modern station building with an attractive façade, a well-planned entrance plaza, an executive lounge, comfortable waiting halls, accessible infrastructure for persons with disabilities, user-friendly toilets, and adequate parking facilities. It also features upgraded drinking water facilities, improved seating arrangements, and advanced passenger information systems.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that the dedication of 75 redeveloped Amrit Bharat railway stations to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi marks a historic milestone in India’s development journey. He stated that modern railway infrastructure will accelerate tourism, trade, agriculture, local products, investment, and employment opportunities in Uttarakhand. He added that Harrawala Railway Station will serve as a modern and welcoming gateway to Uttarakhand for tourists, pilgrims, students, defence personnel and their families, as well as visitors from across India and abroad.

The Governor congratulated the Ministry of Railways, Union Railways Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, officials of the Railway Board, engineers, and railway staff for successfully completing this significant project through their dedication and hard work.

On the occasion, the Governor and the Chief Minister also felicitated the winners of the essay, debate, and painting competitions organized under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

The programme was attended by Cabinet Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Lok Sabha MPs Shri Trivendra Singh Rawat and Smt. Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, Rajya Sabha MPs Shri Naresh Bansal and Dr. Kalpana Saini, MLA Brij Bhushan, Divisional Railway Manager Vinita Srivastava, senior railway officials, and a large gathering of citizens.
