The Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), was called on by the Chairman of the Hemkund Sahib Management Trust, Shri Narendrajit Singh Bindra, at Lok Bhavan on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the Chairman apprised the Governor of the preparations for the upcoming Shri Hemkund Sahib Yatra and informed him about the opening date of the shrine. He stated that the sacred portals of Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib will be ceremonially opened for devotees on May 23, 2026. The Yatra will commence on May 20, 2026 from Rishikesh with the departure of the first batch of pilgrims, led by the Panj Pyare.

The Governor reviewed the preparations, arrangements, and infrastructure development works carried out along the pilgrimage route. He directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination to ensure that the Yatra is safe, smooth, and convenient for the devotees.

Appreciating the effective coordination between the Trust, the Government, and the local administration, the Governor emphasized that all necessary arrangements should be completed within the stipulated timeline to ensure a hassle-free experience for pilgrims.

He also conveyed his best wishes for the successful conduct of the Shri Hemkund Sahib Yatra and for a safe, comfortable, and spiritually fulfilling journey for devotees arriving from across the country and abroad.
