The Governor Mrs. Baby Rani Maurya attended the mass wedding program organized by Shri Mathur Vaishya Seva Samiti in Agra on Tuesday as the chief guest. It is noteworthy that Shri Mathur Vaishya Seva Samiti Agra organizes mass marriages of 31 couples every year on the occasion of Phoolaira Dauj.
Addressing the program, Governor Smt. Maurya said that it is a matter of happiness that Shri Mathur Vaishya Seva Samiti has resolved to get married daughters of poor families of Sarva Samaj. The work being done by the committee is commendable.
Governor Smt. Maurya said that Kanyadaan has great importance in our scriptures and it has been called a very virtuous work. Earlier the marriage work was considered to be a very demanding and religious work, but later due to maladies like dowry, marriage became a burden for the girl child. Now the time is changing, but still it is taking a little time for the hundreds of years old Kurites to go. The mass marriage program plays an important role in breaking the bondage of the caste caste as well as ending the dowry system.
Governor Smt. Maurya said that social evils like dowry should also be discouraged. Start it from your home. Do not take dowry, nor give dowry. The sons should get education to honor women from home. Along with this, women should take active participation in the campaign against drugs. Try to keep children away from drugs at home. Keep a constant watch on them.
The Governor Smt. Maurya appealed to the people to pay special attention to the education of children, especially daughters. Give them good values. Constantly encourage them to achieve success in life. Pay attention to the health of the girl child as well. Do not discriminate between sons and daughters.
On this occasion, the patron of the committee, Mr. Avnish Gupta and Chairman Mr. Mukesh Khare and all the officials of the committee were present.
