His Excellency the Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), was paid a courtesy call on Friday at Lok Bhavan by the Surveyor General of India, Dehradun, Shri Hitesh Kumar S. Makwana. During the meeting, discussions were held on issues related to surveying, mapping, and the application of geospatial technologies in the State.

The Governor stated that accurate mapping and modern geospatial technologies play a vital role in the overall development of the State, disaster management, infrastructure development, and environmental conservation. He appreciated the role of the Survey of India, particularly in view of the unique geographical challenges of hilly States.

Surveyor General Shri Makwana briefed the Governor on various initiatives being undertaken by the Survey of India, the use of advanced technologies, and also discussed future plans in coordination with the State Government.
