Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) has gratefully remembered the unparalleled valour, indomitable courage and unwavering patriotism displayed by the Indian Armed Forces on the occasion of Vijay Diwas. In his message issued on the eve of Vijay Diwas, the Governor stated that this day stands as a symbol of the bravery, sacrifice and glorious traditions of the Indian Armed Forces.

The Governor said that Vijay Diwas not only commemorates India’s historic victory in the 1971 war but also provides an opportunity to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who, through their supreme sacrifice and extraordinary courage, brought honour and pride to the nation.

The Governor remarked that every soldier of the Indian Armed Forces is a source of pride for the nation. Their dedication, bravery and selfless service have always been a source of inspiration for the countrymen. The Armed Forces not only safeguard the nation’s borders but also strengthen the spirit of security, confidence and resilience among citizens.

Recalling the significant contribution of brave soldiers from Uttarakhand, the Governor said that Veer Bhoomi Uttarakhand has consistently produced courageous, disciplined and valiant soldiers for the nation. From the 1971 war to every major military achievement of the country, the contribution of Uttarakhand’s brave sons has been invaluable. The state’s rich military tradition and deep-rooted patriotism continue to inspire future generations.

The Governor stated that Uttarakhand takes immense pride in its brave soldiers and martyrs who laid down their lives in the service of the nation to protect its unity, integrity and honour.
