    15-12-2021:Governor attended the second convocation of Doon University as the chief guest.

    Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that youth have to give leadership to the country. The youth of our country have unlimited potential. The courage, dedication and energy of the youth will make India the best in every field in the world. The Governor said that it is a matter of pride that the participation of girls in the field of higher education is high in Uttarakhand. The youth will have to make the country a knowledge super power again by integrating the ancient knowledge of India with modern skills. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) attended the second convocation of Doon University on Wednesday as the chief guest. Cabinet Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat was also present on this occasion. Governor felicitated 93 meritorious students of the university with gold medals.

    Expressing happiness over the high participation of girls in the convocation ceremony, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that Uttarakhand is an example in the field of women empowerment. Here women are proving themselves in every field. The hardworking and self-confident women of the hilly regions of the state are a source of inspiration for the entire country. Women in remote areas are writing a new chapter of economic empowerment through self-help groups. The Governor said that Dehradun is an excellent education hub. The universities here have to be autonomous as well as accountable. Universities have to provide leadership in research and education. The Governor said that apart from learning foreign languages, the students of universities will also have to encourage the heritage language of our civilization and culture, Sanskrit and 300 languages of India including Pali, Prakrit, Gurmukhi. The synergy between foreign and Indian languages has to be recognized. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that young India can prove its mettle in the whole world. Skilled youth will have a big contribution in realizing the dream of self-reliant India. He said that universities would play an important role in the implementation of the new education policy.

    On this occasion, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) conferred the honorary degree of D Lit to social worker Mata Mangala ji and Mahant Mahendra Das ji.

    Vice Chancellor Doon University Prof. Surekha Dangwal, Registrar of the University, Vice Chancellors of various state universities, teachers and students were present in the convocation ceremony.
