Governor Hoists the National Flag at Lok Bhavan on Independence Day

On the occasion of Independence Day, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) hoisted the national flag at Lok Bhavan and extended his greetings to the people of Uttarakhand. On the occasion, he paid respectful tribute to the great freedom fighters, immortal martyrs and brave heroes who sacrificed everything for the independence of the nation. The Governor said that the freedom achieved through their sacrifice, dedication and struggle remains a source of inspiration for all of us.
The Governor said that the entire nation salutes the brave soldiers deployed along the country’s borders under challenging and difficult conditions to protect India’s sovereignty and integrity. Every Indian remains grateful to these soldiers who are dedicated to serving the nation in snowy regions, mountainous areas and other difficult circumstances.
The Governor said that Independence Day is not merely an occasion for celebration, but also a day to reaffirm our duties and commitments towards the nation. Every citizen should introspect on what contribution they are making towards nation-building, national security, unity, integrity and social harmony. He said that we must make the spirit of “Nation First” and “Nation Above All” the foundation of our lives and continue to work tirelessly in the national interest.
The Governor said that achieving the vision of a developed India, self-reliant India and a globally leading India by 2047 is a collective resolve of the entire nation. Active participation by every citizen is essential to achieving this goal. He also called for making the resolve of a “drug-free youth” a mass movement. He said that the active participation of every individual, family, society and, particularly, the youth is essential for the success of this campaign.
Appreciating the achievements of the women and youth of Uttarakhand, the Governor said that women of the state are achieving remarkable success in various fields. Nearly three lakh women in the state have become “Lakhpati Didis”, advancing towards self-reliance and economic empowerment. Congratulating the women of Uttarakhand, he said that the daughters of the state are excelling in education, research and other fields. At the same time, the youth of Uttarakhand are setting new benchmarks in entrepreneurship and various other sectors.
The Governor said that embracing Artificial Intelligence, modern technology and innovation is essential to meeting the challenges of the 21st century. He expressed confidence that Uttarakhand would make rapid progress in these areas, establish itself among the leading states of the country, and play an important role in making India a leading global power.
On the occasion, Secretary to the Governor Shri Ravinath Raman, Legal Adviser Shri Kaushal Kishore Shukla, Additional Secretary Smt. Reena Joshi, Finance Controller Dr. Tripti Srivastava, Joint Director Information Dr. Nitin Upadhyay, Senior Medical Officers Dr. Mahavir Singh and Dr. A. K. Singh, along with officers and employees of Lok Bhavan, were present.
