    14-10-2025 : Governor attended the “World Standards Day 2025” event in Dehradun as the Chief Guest.

    Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.) attended the “World Standards Day 2025” event in Dehradun on Tuesday as the Chief Guest. On the occasion, the Governor said that standards are not merely technical documents but symbols of trust, transparency, and quality that define the direction of progress and development.

    The Governor stated that standards reflect a nation’s culture of quality. When industries adopt standards, their products gain recognition and credibility in the global market. Incorporating standards into policy frameworks enhances the effectiveness of plans, and when society embraces standardization, it elevates the quality of life of its citizens.

    He remarked that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand itself embodies the ideals of standardization through its pristine nature, rivers, pure air, lush forests, and vibrant culture. The State’s geography teaches the importance of balance, discipline, and responsibility at every step of development. He added that adherence to standards in planning and construction ensures environmental preservation and sustainable progress.

    The Governor appreciated the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for its proactive initiatives in promoting quality and standardization across Uttarakhand. He emphasized that such efforts must reach villages, small industries, and cooperative societies to spread awareness. He urged every citizen to promote standardization in their respective fields, embrace a culture of quality, and actively contribute to making Uttarakhand a model state of standard-based governance and development.

    Cabinet Minister Shri Ganesh Joshi visited the Standards Gallery and exhibition stalls showcasing BIS-certified products and quality models. He appreciated BIS Dehradun for its efforts and said such initiatives play a vital role in enhancing public awareness about quality.

    Rajya Sabha MP Shri Naresh Bansal congratulated BIS on World Standards Day, highlighting that quality and standards play a pivotal role in the holistic development of the nation.

    Rajya Sabha MP Smt. Kalpana Saini emphasized the role of the National Standards Body in fostering quality consciousness among youth and urged educational institutions to collaborate with BIS.

    President of Parmarth Niketan Ashram, Swami Chidanand Saraswati, praised BIS for its commitment to developing indigenous standards, stating that self-regulation, self-reliance, and self-confidence are key to national growth. He urged BIS to further promote indigenous products and make quality control an integral part of daily life.

    BIS Dehradun Head and Director Shri Saurabh Tiwari welcomed all guests and shared key initiatives undertaken by BIS Dehradun over the past year, including capacity-building programs with state departments, awareness workshops, jeweller outreach campaigns, and innovative standardization initiatives.

    The event began with a “Quality Awareness Rally” organized by BIS Dehradun, in which over 1,000 students participated. Several government departments and media organizations were felicitated for their cooperation with BIS.

    More than 50 exhibition stalls showcased BIS-certified products, scientific models, startup innovations, and projects by Standard Club students. Over 1,500 participants attended the event, making it a grand success.
