Coffee Table Book ‘Floral Healing: Nature’s Path to Well-Being’, Based on Memories of Vasantotsav-2026, Released at Lok Bhavan

Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) on Friday released the coffee table book ‘Floral Healing: Nature’s Path to Well-Being’, prepared by the Department of Horticulture and based on the memories of Vasantotsav-2026, at Lok Bhavan.

The three-day Vasantotsav held this year featured a flower exhibition, various competitions, a special postal cover, a painting competition for schoolchildren, yoga and martial arts demonstrations, and cultural programmes, giving the festival the character of a vibrant public celebration.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that ‘Floral Healing’ conveys the message that nature is deeply connected with our health, balance and happiness. He congratulated and extended his best wishes to the Department of Horticulture and Food Processing and everyone associated with the event for carrying forward the tradition of Vasantotsav and preserving its memories through the book.

He said the book is not merely a collection of beautiful photographs of flowers, but a living document showcasing Uttarakhand’s natural beauty, biodiversity, the hard work of farmers, its culture, and the potential for flower cultivation.

The Governor said that Uttarakhand’s diverse climatic conditions and rich biodiversity are highly conducive to floriculture and horticulture. He noted that flower cultivation can emerge as a promising avenue for employment and entrepreneurship for the youth. By linking floriculture with tourism, homestays and local products, the rural economy can be given fresh momentum, while also helping to curb migration from rural areas.

Secretary Shri Surendra Narayan Pandey, Director Shri R.K. Singh, Additional Director Shri Ratan Kumar, Joint Director Shri Suresh Ram and Horticulture Officer Shri Deepak Purohit were present on the occasion.
