    14-03-2021 : Governor and Chief Minister rewarded the winners of various competitions

    The Governor, Mrs. Baby Rani Maurya, concluded the Vasantotsav 2021, the ongoing floral exhibition at Raj Bhavan on Sunday. Governor Smt Baby Rani Maurya also awarded the winners of various competitions. Chief Minister Mr. Tirath Singh Rawat was also present in the program and presented prizes to the winners.
    This year BHEL has 18 categories, Uttarakhand Forest Department in 05 categories, IMA ONGC received awards in 06 categories, ONGC in 13 categories, and IIT Roorkee in 06 categories. BHEL was awarded the Chal Baijayanti (Running Trophy) on receiving the highest award. 132 first, second and third awards and 14 consolation awards were distributed in 46 subcategories of 11 categories. ONGC won first in the category of Food Pushp (Flowers Used for Edible Purpose), Ekta Veena in Fresh Petal Rangoli and Style in First on the Spot Photography.

    Addressing the closing ceremony, the Governor said that the main objective is to make the flower exhibition held at Raj Bhavan more and more useful and profitable for the people. The tenants of flowers will get a boost through floral exhibition. It has been decided to organize apple-litchi festival in August-September this year. The apples and litchis of Uttarakhand are of excellent quality. Through this exhibition, they will be promoted more. Governor Smt. Maurya said that it is necessary to make people aware about the unique beauty and wealth that nature has given us. The importance of plantation, environmental protection will be understood only when people see the importance of nature and its beauty. This flower exhibition also has its own contribution towards environmental protection.
    Cabinet Minister Shri Subodh Uniyal said that stalls were set up by 171 institutes. 135 children participated in the petting competition in the age group of 12 to 18. He said that our goal is to strengthen people’s economy through floriculture. Flower products are encouraged to recover from the side effects of Kovid-19.
    Secretary Horticulture Mr. Harbans Singh Chugh gave detailed information about the Push Exhibition. Director Garden was thanked by Dr. H. S. Baweja. On this occasion Secretary Governor Shri Brijesh Kumar Sant, Additional Secretary Shri Governor Jitendra Sonkar, along with other officials of the Horticulture Department and other dignitaries were also present.
