The Governor of Uttarakhand, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), met Dr. C.S. Tomar, the newly appointed Director of the Meteorological Centre, Dehradun, at Raj Bhawan on Wednesday.

The Governor conveyed his best wishes to Dr. Tomar on assuming charge and underlined that precise and timely meteorological forecasting is critical for Uttarakhand’s mountainous terrain and for effective disaster risk reduction. He expressed confidence that under Dr. Tomar’s leadership, the Meteorological Centre would utilise modern technology, satellite data, and artificial intelligence to provide the public with even more precise weather forecasts.
