Syed Ali Naqvi, Program Manager of Plan India/Reckitt, paid a courtesy call on the Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), at Lok Bhavan on Friday. On the occasion, he presented the “Dettol Banega Swasth India Impact Study Report – 2025” to the Governor.
During the meeting, Shri Naqvi informed that under the Dettol School Hygiene Education initiative, the organisation, with the support of Reckitt, has been running an awareness campaign in schools to educate children about hygiene, regular handwashing, and healthy lifestyle practices. Through this initiative, students are being encouraged to adopt habits related to personal hygiene, maintaining a clean school environment, and preventing diseases.
Appreciating the initiative, the Governor said that cleanliness is not merely a habit but a fundamental pillar for building a healthy society. He added that if awareness about hygiene and health is developed among children from an early stage, it creates a positive impact on the entire society.
The Governor suggested that this awareness campaign should also be extended to Anganwadi centres, so that along with young children, their mothers and guardians can also be made aware of the importance of hygiene. He recommended beginning with training and awareness programmes in five Anganwadi centres in the initial phase. He also suggested organising a special session on hygiene awareness in the Lok Bhavan residential colony, so that residents and staff members living there can also be encouraged to adopt hygienic practices.
The Governor expressed confidence that such awareness initiatives would play a significant role in promoting positive behavioural change regarding hygiene in society and would inspire people to adopt healthier lifestyles.
