    11-12-2025 : Governor inaugurated the free Divyang (Persons with Disabilities) Assistance Camp organized by Harshal Foundation today at Gandhi Road, Dehradun.

    Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) inaugurated the free Divyang (Persons with Disabilities) Assistance Camp organized by Harshal Foundation today at Gandhi Road, Dehradun. During his visit to the two-day camp, the Governor interacted with the Divyang beneficiaries and senior citizens, and reviewed the facilities being provided. In the presence of the Governor, several beneficiaries were provided artificial limbs and other assistive devices.

    On this occasion, the Governor said that this camp, being conducted by Harshal Foundation for many years, is an exemplary model of human sensitivity, compassion, and social responsibility. He said that this initiative reflects the true spirit of service to humanity. The Governor added that more than ten thousand Divyang persons have benefited from this camp so far, which is highly commendable.

    The Governor emphasized that Divyang persons need not sympathy, but opportunities and respect. With proper support, modern technology, and a positive environment, they can excel in every field. Referring to the recent victory of India’s visually impaired women’s cricket team in the T-20 World Cup, along with the achievements of para-athletes, he said these examples clearly prove that Divyang citizens are a source of immense inspiration for society. He further said that the use of modern technology and AI can make the lives of Divyang persons easier and more accessible.

    The two-day camp is providing several assistive devices free of cost, including artificial limbs, calipers, crutches, wheelchairs, tricycles, walkers, sticks, hearing aids, and specialized spectacles. In addition, facilities such as health check-ups, physiotherapy, medical consultation, disease diagnosis, and expert advice have also been arranged. Programs related to skill development and employment assistance for Divyang persons are being conducted as well.

    The Governor appreciated the cooperation of associated organizations, the medical teams, volunteers, and the officials of the district administration, health department, and social welfare department for their contribution to the camp.

    Cabinet Minister Shri Subodh Uniyal, who was present at the event, also praised the efforts of the Foundation and partner institutions. He said that Divyang persons are not behind in any field and continue to prove their ability through hard work and skill. He noted that such camps infuse positive energy and inspiration within society. Foundation Chairperson Smt. Rama Goyal, Secretary Shri Ghanshyam Agarwal, Shri Rajesh Tandon, Brigadier K. G. Behl, Dr. S. Farooq, and others were present at the event.
