Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) on Saturday unveiled the Sanskrit verse translation of Adi Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Lok Bhavan. This is the first complete Sanskrit verse translation of the Adi Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, prepared by Ram Tirth Centre and translated by noted scholar Sahityacharya Shri Jay Narayan Shastri Ji. The event was organized to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the Ram Tirth Centre (Saharanpur).
Addressing the gathering, the Governor said that the occasion was not merely a celebration of an institution’s Golden Jubilee, but a historic celebration of India’s culture, spirituality, knowledge tradition, and national unity. He described the confluence of Gurbani and the divine language Sanskrit as a powerful symbol of India’s cultural integration, spiritual dialogue, and social harmony. He emphasized that understanding the profound message of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, incorporating its teachings into daily life, and disseminating its wisdom among the people is a shared responsibility of all.
The Governor stated that the Sanskrit verse translation of the Adi Sri Guru Granth Sahib marks a historic achievement in the history of India’s knowledge tradition, literature, and spirituality. He said the work is not merely a linguistic translation but a remarkable synthesis of the divine consciousness of Gurbani and the timeless wisdom of Sanskrit, which will serve as a valuable source of inspiration, study, and research for future generations.
He lauded the decades-long dedication and scholarship of Sahityacharya Jay Narayan Shastri ‘Yatri’, whose tireless efforts made this unique work possible. He also appreciated the contributions of Acharya Sarveshwar Nath Prabhakar, Acharya Gangeshwar Nath Prabhakar, Dr. Abha Prabhakar, and the entire editorial team. The Governor remarked that documentation and publication are not merely acts of record-keeping but are essential to preserving the collective memory of civilization. He congratulated the Ram Tirth Centre family and all the scholars and contributors associated with this landmark publication.
