11-06-2022 : The Governor visited the exhibition of products made by women of Self Help Groups at Raj Bhavan, Nainital premises.

Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Gurmit Singh visited the exhibition of products made by women of Self Help Groups at Raj Bhawan, Nainital premises on Saturday. In this exhibition, women from places like Kotabagh, Laveshal, Dhari, Ramgarh, Fatehpur, Ranibagh, Motahaldu etc. of Nainital displayed their products.
Observing these products made by the women’s group, the Governor said that there is no dearth of talent among the women of Uttarakhand, they are an example of self-reliance. The women of Uttarakhand are capable of bringing about an economic revolution. The Governor said that Self Help Groups will play a major role in reverse migration, they are a great example of women empowerment. He said that SHGs have to engage other women along with increasing their income. Products made by women including wooden artefacts, amps, handicrafts, LED lights, besides local products such as pulses, spices, bakery products, pickles, jams etc. were appreciated. He said that every tourist coming to Nainital should buy all these products and work should be done on this goal. He suggested to focus on packaging and branding of products along with value addition to the products.
The Governor asked the officials to provide all possible help to the Self Help Groups. Marketing of their products should be ensured through Growth Centres. He also assured help to use latest technology for branding the products of SHGs. He said that many people want to buy the products of natural and organic farming through self-help groups, just need to reach such people, for this departmental officers should cooperate with the groups.
During this, the Governor, while interacting with the women of the Self Help Group, also listened to the problems being faced during the operation of the group and instructed the officials to take appropriate action. Additional Project Director Shilpi Pant informed the Governor about the self-help groups and other schemes of rural development established in the district. On this occasion the first lady Mrs. Gurmit Kaur and women from self-help groups from different regions were present.
