Governor Smt. Baby Rani Maurya informed the media about Spring Festival -2021, a flower exhibition to be held on 13 and 14 March 2021 at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. The governor said that “in these two days, many competitions for flower growers will be organized.” He told that in this Spring Festival , Holi of flowers of Vrindavan will be organized. Along with this, the apple and litchi festival will be organized in the month of August-September, 2021. This may have encouraged local legume growers. The Governor also sent a floral chariot for the promotion of Spring Festival . Shivling was also made with flowers in the Raj Bhavan on the auspicious occasion of Maha Shivaratri, which was worshiped by the Governor, Mrs. Maurya. The flowers exhibition will be inaugurated by Governor Smt. Maurya on March 13, 2021 at 9.30 am. The exhibition will be open for general public till 6 pm on both days. The award distribution and closing ceremony will be held on March 14 at 4 pm.
Governor Smt. Maurya informed that a special decision has been taken to increase participation of children in flower exhibitions this year. A day before the inauguration, on Friday, March 12, 2021, other children, including children from poor, disabled and disadvantaged classes, will be specially invited for the exhibition. These children will be the first visitors of this flower exhibition. He said that the tradition of Vasant Utsav was started in Raj Bhavan from 2003. Started as a flower exhibition, this event has become popular day by day and has now taken the form of a large cultural and economic festival. The people of Dehradun eagerly await the spring festival every year. The spring festival to be held at Raj Bhavan has become the hallmark of present-day Dehradun. Last year, due to Kovid-19, they could not organize this flower exhibition. But it has been decided to organize this year with all precautions.
On this occasion Secretary Shri Governor Shri Brijesh Sant, Secretary Horticulture Shri Harbansh Singh Chugh, Additional Secretary Governor Shri Jitendra Kumar Sonkar, Director Horticulture Dr. HS Vaveja etc. were present.
