    Jai Hind!

Respected senior officers of the Armed Forces, brave soldiers, veterans, war widows, mothers of martyrs, the proud people of Uttarakhand, and all distinguished guests present here,

It is a matter of immense pride, honour, and deep emotional connection for me to be present on the sacred land of the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre, Lansdowne. This institution is not merely a military establishment; it is a living symbol of patriotism, discipline, sacrifice, and courage that has, for generations, rendered unparalleled service in the defence of our motherland.

The history of the Garhwal Rifles is not merely a record of battles fought; it is an enduring saga of courage, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to the nation. Since 1887, this regiment has stood shoulder to shoulder with the nation during every challenge and has earned distinction not only along our borders but also in international peacekeeping missions.

    Friends,

As a soldier myself, I have experienced that wars are not won merely with weapons, but through training, morale, technical skill, and dedication to the nation. The nature of warfare is changing rapidly. Today’s conflicts are no longer confined to conventional battlefields. Artificial Intelligence, drone operations, cyber security, real-time surveillance, and advanced defence technologies have become essential elements of modern military strategy.

I am pleased to note that the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre is continuously modernising its training structure in accordance with these changing requirements. Advanced facilities such as drone training, automatic scoring systems, combat training simulators, technical engagement systems, and battlefield medical training are preparing our soldiers to face future challenges with competence and alertness.

    Friends,

At a time when the world is witnessing hybrid warfare and unconventional threats, technological superiority has become as important as border security. Our soldiers must evolve not only as warriors on the battlefield but also as technologically capable strategic defenders of the nation. I firmly believe that the Garhwal Rifles is emerging as an exemplary model in this direction.

The world today is passing through a period of transformation where the very definition of warfare is constantly changing. In the years ahead, not only soldiers stationed at borders, but also data, technology, artificial intelligence, space capability, and drone dominance will determine the strategic strength of nations. Under the vision of a self-reliant India, the country has made remarkable progress in the defence sector. Indigenous drone systems, counter-drone technology, advanced surveillance platforms, and domestic defence manufacturing are taking India to new strategic heights. I am confident that the discipline of the Indian Army and the scientific capability of our nation together will successfully overcome future challenges.

I am also delighted to know that this Centre is not confined solely to military training, but is equally committed to environmental conservation, cleanliness, and social responsibility. Prestigious recognitions such as the Indira Gandhi Environment Award in 2003, the Best Military Station Award in 2007, and recent honours for being a clean, green, and sustainable station reflect the institution’s excellent work culture.

The beautification of Lansdowne Station, the Shingal Clock Tower, war memorials, high mast national flags, Gaurav Sainani Lake, and the preservation of military heritage sites are truly inspiring efforts that connect future generations with our glorious history.

    Friends,

The real strength of any army lies not only in its soldiers, but also in their families, veterans, war widows, and the mothers who dedicated their sons to the service of the nation. Welfare initiatives for veterans and families, expansion of support facilities, and efforts towards the welfare of war widows and ex-servicemen are highly commendable.

The greatest proof of a nation’s gratitude lies in the respect it gives to its soldiers and their families. Our veterans devoted the finest years of their lives to safeguarding the nation, while war widows and mothers of martyrs have displayed extraordinary courage and resilience that inspire the entire society. The initiatives undertaken by the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre for their welfare, interaction, and honour are truly sensitive and exemplary.

The life of a soldier is not limited to wearing a uniform; it is a way of life based on sacrifice, discipline, restraint, and complete devotion to the nation. The Army teaches us that leadership is established not by rank, but by example. When an officer stands beside his soldiers during difficult circumstances, trust is created, and that trust becomes the greatest strength of any military force. It is this tradition that places the Indian Army among the most respected armed forces in the world.

I am especially pleased to note that the Regimental Centre is also contributing significantly towards women’s empowerment. Skill development programmes, vocational training, promotion of local products, and self-employment initiatives are strengthening the spirit of a self-reliant India.

Similarly, educational and developmental initiatives for children demonstrate that this institution is committed not only to protecting the present but also to shaping the future.

The land of Uttarakhand has always been a sacred land of valour and national service. These mountains have not only given birth to rivers, but also to brave sons who enhanced the pride of India through their courage and sacrifice on the borders. The military traditions of Garhwal and Kumaon are not merely part of history; they continue to inspire generations of youth even today. When a young person from this region wears the Army uniform, it represents not merely a profession but a glorious legacy carried forward through generations. The Garhwal Rifles stands as a shining symbol of that tradition.

Today, there is a need to combine our rich military heritage with modern technological capability. We must remember that tradition and technology together will form the greatest strategic strength of the future. The courage of our soldiers and the technological strength of our nation together will make India secure, capable, and confident.

    Dear Young Friends,

India today is one of the youngest nations in the world. If this youthful energy is guided by discipline, patriotism, and technical excellence, no force can prevent India from achieving new heights of global leadership. The Army not only protects our borders but also serves as one of the greatest institutions for character building among the youth. Institutions like the Garhwal Rifles play a vital role in strengthening the spirit of “Nation First” among young citizens.

In conclusion, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all officers, soldiers, instructors, and staff of the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre for their exemplary service. I also salute all veterans, war widows, and mothers of martyrs present here on behalf of the nation.

I am fully confident that the Garhwal Rifles will continue to uphold the honour of the nation through its motto, discipline, and valour in the years to come.

    Jai Hind!
    Jai Uttarakhand!
