Hon’ble Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) visited Kedarnath Temple on Saturday, where he offered prayers at the sacred shrine and reviewed pilgrimage arrangements and ongoing reconstruction works. He prayed for global well-being, prosperity of humanity, and the sustainable development of Uttarakhand.
The Governor completed darshan within a very short duration, ensuring that the movement and darshan of pilgrims remained completely unaffected. Pilgrims were not halted at any point during his visit, and all arrangements continued smoothly. The Governor expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and appreciated the district administration and concerned officials for effective management.
During the visit, the Governor interacted extensively with pilgrims and sought their feedback and suggestions regarding the pilgrimage arrangements. He met devotees from different states and enquired about their travel experience and the facilities being provided by the administration. Pilgrims expressed satisfaction regarding the travel route, security arrangements, healthcare services, cleanliness, and darshan management.
The Governor said that receiving the blessings of Baba Kedar is a matter of immense spiritual privilege and divine experience. He stated that the opportunity to interact with pilgrims and listen to their suggestions and concerns at Shri Kedarnath Dham was meaningful and valuable. He observed that all departments, local residents, administrative authorities, police personnel, voluntary organizations, and service groups work tirelessly throughout the year to ensure the successful conduct of the Char Dham Yatra.
He said that every resident of Uttarakhand and every individual associated with the pilgrimage contributes significantly to its successful management. He described the pilgrimage not merely as an administrative exercise, but as a collective mission of service, dedication, and faith. He added that it is the shared responsibility of all stakeholders to ensure that pilgrims receive a safe, comfortable, and spiritually fulfilling experience.
The Governor appealed to pilgrims and the general public to maintain cleanliness and preserve the natural and spiritual beauty of Kedarnath Dham and the entire Char Dham region. He stated that discipline, patience, and sensitivity are equally essential for spirituality and cleanliness. He remarked that the sacred land of Baba Kedar symbolizes purity, peace, and spiritual energy, and therefore every visitor has a responsibility to keep the shrine clean, beautiful, and sacred.
Appreciating the development initiatives and arrangements being made for the successful conduct of the Shri Kedarnath Yatra, the Governor said that all departments and institutions are working with the common objective of ensuring a safe, smooth, organized, and spiritually enriching pilgrimage experience.
He also urged pilgrims to purchase local products, handicrafts, and items made by self-help groups in Uttarakhand so that local communities and small traders may also benefit economically from the pilgrimage season. He noted that the Char Dham Yatra is closely linked to the economy and cultural identity of Uttarakhand.
The Governor invited devotees from across the country and abroad to visit Shri Kedarnath Dham and experience the divinity, grandeur, and spiritual energy of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. He stated that the unique spiritual experience and positive energy of the region can only be truly felt in Uttarakhand.
The Governor also conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing reconstruction and development works at Kedarnath Dham. He reviewed the progress of various projects and directed officials to ensure quality and timely completion of the works.
District Magistrate Vishal Mishra briefed the Governor on the reconstruction works and arrangements made for pilgrims. He informed that all departments are working in close coordination to maintain robust facilities and efficient management at the Dham.
The Governor also met members of the Teerth Purohit community in the temple premises, where he was traditionally welcomed with Vedic chants and rituals. On the occasion, he remarked that every particle of Kedar Valley resonates with the divine presence of Lord Shiva and fills visitors with spiritual energy.
He appreciated the efforts of the district administration, temple committee, police department, SDRF, NDRF, and other supporting agencies for their dedicated service in ensuring a safe, smooth, and convenient pilgrimage experience for devotees.
The Governor further appealed to all officials, employees, and service groups associated with the Yatra to continue serving pilgrims with the spirit of “Atithi Devo Bhava” and maintain seamless pilgrimage arrangements.
Among those present on the occasion were Rajendra Prasad Tiwari, General Secretary of Shri Kedar Sabha; senior Teerth Purohits Umesh Chandra Posti and Vineet Posti; Ukhimath Block Pramukh Pankaj Shukla; Superintendent of Police Niharika Tomar; Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Yatra Magistrate Krishna Tripathi; along with a large number of devotees.
